Santa, Not Everyone Deserves a Wii

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007 by Customer Service Associate

Because the Wii’s are still in such huge demand, the company I work for has set up special “Wii Days.” We’re doing it because it’s easier for the customer and easier for us. We get to tell the customer exactly when we will have Wii’s in stock, and the customer doesn’t have to call the store everyday to check.

The last time we had Wii’s though, we received them a couple days early and set them aside. Somehow, a customer found out we had them already and went about complaining to every manager she could find. She told us that someone at the store told her we had them in stock, and she had paid a cab to rush down in order to by one. She went through every manager several times over until one of us broke down and went to the back and pulled one out for her.

Next time though, we’re just going to call security.

Got Wii?

Monday, December 24th, 2007 by Customer Service Associate

We had our last holiday shipment of Wii’s on Friday and it was nuts. We handed out tickets and sold through nearly everything in the first hour. However, we still had three left in the store because some customers needed to run out and pay the parking meter. As they had tickets, we promised to hold the machines until noon.

Unfortunately, in a lapse of judgement, I let slip that we had three Wii’s waiting to be claimed and when word got out, I had not one, but two customers follow me for the rest of the morning hoping that they would get first dibs on those unclaimed Wii’s. They wouldn’t let me out of their sight for anything.

Boy, it was awkward using the washroom that day.

Stopping Climate Change

No joke, but this guy was totally serious.

One of the guys at work had a customer call in asking if we could hold a Nintendo Wii for him.  As per company policy, he told the customer that because of the intense demand, the consoles were first come first served.

“How am I going to get one if you don’t hold one for me?” he asked irritably.

“Well, just come down as soon as you can and hopefully we’ll have some left.”

“What happens if you sell out?  Do you guys know how much gas is going to be wasted if I come down there for nothing?”  The customer’s voice started to rise.  “Don’t you what that’s going to do to the environment?!?  Don’t you people care?”

“Sir,” my co-worker answered.  “Maybe you shouldn’t drive down here at all.  If you get a Wii you’re just going end up using more energy and killing the environment anyways.”
